In this film, an admiration for Oscars turned Hollywood into an all-out war on entertainment. Before the script is written, I will say that it's usually funny, but when it's letting out peoples' aggression, it knows what it is. If there are any casting agents out there, consider this:
George Clooney-Justin Zackham (writer of The Bucket List) This character has severe jealousy problems and wants to take his mind off movies. However, as he writes Balloon Boy with Michael Arndt, he realizes how much fun he's having.
Jack Black-Marco Schnabel (director of The Love Guru) This character is nowhere near as jealous as the above as it starts out, and he would most like to win an Oscar, but after seeing American Beauty, he forgets the whole reason why he joined the Balloon Boy project and breaks out in aggression.
Adrien Brody-Michael Arndt (writer of Little Miss Sunshine) This character is looking forward to his new project, but after he reads the second half of Balloon Boy, we really learn of his sensitive side.
Johnny Depp-Sam Mendes (director of American Beauty) This character is firm in his development (ironically, he was a fan of love guru), and with his wife Kate and kids, but he has a suspicious and aggressive side of his own as filming goes on.
Kate Winslet-Kate Winslet (actress, The Reader, Titanic, etc.) She is firm as well as Sam, but she has problems with motherhood, like "I have the right to run you like a damn slave!" and Justin and Marco enjoy cackling whenever she hears her break out in frustration.
Leonardo DiCaprio-Leonardo DiCaprio (actor, Revolutionary Road, Body of Lies, etc.) This guy has had some kind of anger issues in the last year, so therefore he's a bit hard to handle. Known as "D-Cap" to Justin and Marco. Role of father in Balloon Boy.
Nicole Kidman-Nicole Kidman (actress, Australia, The Hours, etc.) She has taken a dose of crank two months ago, and her attitude has changed from polite to nutjob, and now she acts silent, because a girlfriend bet her she couldn't talk for a year. For most of the film, she doesn't say much. role of mother in balloon boy.
John Travolta-Roger Christian (director of Battlefield Earth) The film Battlefield Earth has been spoken among critics as the worst film of the century so far, so Roger joins Marco's DAM (Directors Against Mendes) to get revenge on the many critics who panned his film. When he does so, he dresses up in the same makeup as seen in Battlefield Earth (long hair, goatee, dirty teeth, nosetubes, giant hairy clawy hands, big boots, and giant gun).
Woody Harrelson-Michael Bay (director of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) After getting exasperated on all his criticism for his films, he goes to Sam Mendes and begs to work with him. Sadly, after he refuses, Michael is forced to join DAM. His desperation is to blow things up, but as soon as he finds out that would be unnecessary, he quits, and with the help of a simple movie ticket kid, he takes Hollywood down with him as he goes up in flames.
Now, remember, this is a satire, so I don't have to know jack-squat about these real-life people.
